The Nightclub

Two weeks after “the swinger party,” as Shari and Tom called it, Jen invited them to a party at the Taylor residence. Unfortunately, Tom’s dad had hip surgery that weekend, and Tom had agreed to go to Ohio to help his mother out for a few days. They sent their regrets and assured everyone that they wanted to be invited to the next one, and they weren’t just making a graceful excuse. Shari used the weekend to catch up with some girlfriends.

“What’s new in your life, Shari?” they asked, when they took a break from talking about themselves.

“Oh, nothing much,” said Shari, thinking, All sorts of things, but I can’t tell you.

She drifted away from them. She could be so much more open with the T&A wives.
